Tensions between North Korea and the United States are creating mounting fears of nuclear strikes.
ESCALATING threats between North Korea and the United States are sparking fears nuclear war could be on the horizon.

With Donald Trump vowing to meet more North Korean threats with “power the likes of which the world has never seen” and Kim Jong-un responding with a plan for a nuke attack on the US island of Guam, grim preparations are being made for the horror scenario.

And with the tensions showing no signs of letting up it’s been reported the UK Government is now working on a new alert system to prepare Brits for the horror of a nuclear war.

Well, lets hope it doesn't happen, but if it does, it's better to be prepared.

What a shit world we live in :shake head: What happened? How could things have gone so bad? Just the idea that we might need these kind of instructions is frightening enough. When did we ever see something like that in our lifetime?

The fact is that there is little that you can do to survive a nuclear attack and hardly any reason why you would want to.

The first wave would be high altitude explosions which would yield an EMP discharge that would wipe out electrical systems and turn communications into chaos. Then military and industrial targets and finally the last wave hitting civilian populations of over 200k +.

The lucky ones would be vapourised in the initial blasts, no pain, no realisation. Those further away would be hit by the shockwave and firestorms that will last for weeks, endlessly re-cycling the rain of fallout. These people will not have any help whatsoever, they will die within days from shock, injuries, suicide or radiation sickness. Those further out will still receive near fatal levels of radiation and will linger until they succumb to sickness, disease or starvation. There will be a nuclear winter because of the amount of filth kicked up into the atmosphere, this will include massive amounts of radiation that will take around five weeks to litter every corner of our planet ensuring the slow and agonising of everyone. In short, you may initially survive but it won't be pleasant or for very long.

Dialogue is needed in the current crisis, ramping up the threats is unhelpful and dangerous. NK does this every April to coincide with US/SK war games in the area and every August to commemorate NK independence. Trump has to try and keep the growing investigation against him out of the news and I believe is deluded enough to start a war to keep it out of the headlines.

Holy shoit, you paint a lovely picture :ooer: ...but you're right, who would want to hang around after the worse happened.
Well, lets hope they can solve this crisis peacefully...South Korea doesn't seem to be too worried atm.

Who the fk voted for Trump? :brickwall:

I voted for him and will at the next election too if he runs. Funny how you don't seem to have a problem with NK's leader?
You should be more angry at the democrats like blow job Clinton who gave NK access to Nuclear Technology, I seem to remember they were only using it to build power stations lol.
Plus if NK can ever reach America with a ballistic Missile It will only reach the west coast. Taking out Hollywood and the likes if Bill Maher and the rest of the cesspit wouldn't be such a bad thing.

That's a very extreme Doomsday scenario. There is pretty much no chance of that ever happening, mostly for the reasons given by Trapper John, i.e the people who could make such a thing happen almost certainly wouldn't want to do it.

I should be ok though, I've got a table I can hide under.

Yes, you should be OK then, but what's Rollup gonna do?.. he doesn't own a table :ooer:

Trapper John wrote:I can still remember the public service warnings we were given when I was just a little kid, voiced by a reasonably well known bit part actor it began, 'This is the sound of the air attack warning................when you hear the air attack warning, you and your family must take cover' it was used at the start of Frankie goes to Hollywood's 'Two tribes'

The one you would actually hear after an attack has been launched, is very different and a lot more frightening.

It's pretty bleak, I'll give you that.

Go stand outside if possible in an area where you'll receive the full blast.
You don't want anything protecting you from the blast.
Get vapourised.
It has to be the best way under the circumstances.

That's also the best way of absorbing enough radiation to gain super powers.

The Day After.

The Day After is a 1983 American television movie that aired on November 20, 1983, on the ABC television network.
It was seen by more than 100 million people during its initial broadcast.
It is currently the highest-rated television movie in history.

I watched it in 83 when Thatcher was making speeches ... We'd rather be dead than red!
No one asked me.
The reds were not threatening the west but the propaganda sold it to us that way.
Hundreds of American new technology cruise missiles armed with nukes were pouring into Britain.
Daily on the TV leaflets were shown about how to protect and survive which consisted of little more than take a door of its hinges lean it against the kitchen table and cover it in soil.
Yeah right.
We were to live under there for ... who knows how long.
These leaflets we were told almost daily would only be distributed if things got really bad.
Thing was a better form of communication was already being used to get the message across .... so how bad had it gotten people were asking.
This film was the scariest most heartbreaking film I'd ever seen.
I just watched it again 35 years on and it's still as powerful.
