Is this a scam?

Postby common sense » Mon Jul 27, 2020 4:11 pm

Had an email today from HMRC saying I'm due to a £352 tax rebate on the 2019-2020 year. I don't pay tax, haven't paid a penny in my life. Link me to HMRC site which seems genuine and they want my debit card details plus 3 numbers on the back to transfer the money. Why would they want those and not the account details. HELP.

Googled and they're aware of these. The Gov.UK page looks exactly like the real one though with the Covid banner on the top.

is this emails ? just spam them and you wont get anymore. I always have a quick scroll through emails, never open them, then junk the shite.
I don't buy a license , most Scots dont. :snooty: and we get all sorts of letter styles trying to trick us, one came looking like the postman tried to deliver a package, there was nothing on the card to suggest what it was, ripped the card open and its the TV license chancers *get in the sea*

So can you confirm that the site where you have to type in your bank details (including your security code) is the UK government?

No it's not. It's very much like it but it's a fake.

Can you report this to your local police and will they do anything about it?

Does anyone actually believe all this? :pmsl:

Next he'll get an email from a Nigerian Princess who needs to transfer $15 millions to the UK and she would share it with him if he would send $1000 to get the transfer started.
