GB News host Eamonn Holmes has revealed he was forced to sell his beloved Belfast home to pay a huge tax bill and shell out 'hundreds of thousands' in legal fees
I always feel a little sorry when a celebrity gets caught out with a tax case.
Maybe I'm being a bit of an easy mark but I would guess that most celebrities simply hand their receipts/bank statements etc to their accountants and let them get on with it.
That said it was probably a bit foolish of him to continue to argue when it became apparent that HMRC weren't going to give up and the cost of lawyers and so on would far exceed any money he might save - especially as we know HMRC always give a very generous discount for those who choose to settle early.
