Yikes, Prime Minister - Boris Johnson's bungling and buffon

I am having to revise my opinion.

Previously I thought de Pfeffel would be able to hang on until May when he would be the scapegoat for poor performance at the local elections. I'm now less convinced, he may no longer be Prime Minister when buying a valentine card for his wife and whoever his new mistress is.

ITV have been doing some sterling work assisting Sue Gray in compiling her Partygate dossier.

I see the Conservative Party's flirtation with populism and the cult of celebrity is going about as well as the Republican Party's did.

This may save Bodger for the time being as they may say Sue Gray's report cannot be released until the Met investigation is concluded but it may well give ammunition to the element of the Conservative party who wants him out. Starmer must be laughing his socks off.

Since the Met declared their interest in investigating it seems to have hastened Grays report which i'm not sure is for the benefit of the country - more likely for Johnsons benefit whose chomping at the bit for her report whitewash job to be published.

Following the total shambles Boris made of PMQs today he has been backed into a corner.

Keir Starmer essentially made it clear that the Met were carrying out a criminal investigation, the outcome of which could be a decision to bring a criminal prosecution against a sitting Prime Minister.

The Tories will want to brazen it out for as long as possible and if enough of a whitewash Sue Gray's report might provide just enough latitude for that but I think it's going to be 'in light of these findings I must resign even though it wasn't really my fault and Brexit and ... and ... and.'

Johnson getting a right thrashing at PMQ's. He's totally out of his depth and the only good thing about him clinging on is he's tearing the ToryKip party apart.

Another straw...

26 January 2022

Once more the Nowzad charity is appalled to find ourselves at the centre of a political media debate on who did what and when in relation to Operation Ark.

67 vulnerable Afghans were evacuated against all odds from Afghanistan by road to start new lives in the United Kingdom. This should be an achievement that is celebrated not used for political point scoring.

As a charity, we had no oversight of any communication between any government departments relating to who authorised the call forward of the Nowzad staff.
We found out at the same time as everyone else, when Ben Wallace tweeted our approval at 1.30am on the 25th August. Sadly, it was too late to ensure the evacuation flight that our supporters had fundraised for, would be able to transport our staff to safety. Only Pen Farthing (British passport holder) with the Nowzad rescued animals in the cargo hold, was able to leave Kabul airport after the British military had already ended Operation Pitting. No British military were put in harm’s way or supported Pen Farthing during his two attempts to gain access to Kabul airport.

The Nowzad charity and its founder, Pen Farthing, have also submitted evidence to the select committee hearing which can be found here; Please scroll down to find Nowzad's submission

We will not be taking part in any further interviews on this subject.

This is a big row today, Nowzad are losing supporters and donations now, people slagging them off for saving the animals instead of humans... Erm... he wasn't allowed to bring any more people than he had on board. :off head:

The Met investigation is delaying the release of the Gray report. On the one hand the Mets are saying they aren't asking for it to be delayed, yet on the other hand they're also saying it must contain 'minimal references' to what they are investigating. Pick the bones out of that...

It would be a bit pointless for the Gray report to be published but with the parts the public are interested in - the parties allegations - missing. It would be better to simply hold off until the Met investigations, which are potentially more serious, are finalised.

The Met's position seems odd though. The offences they are looking at are summary only ones as breaches of the Covid regs so would involve fines at worse. Publication of report "prejudicing" their investigation smells a bit off as there is no jury to influence etc. They could have uncovered more serious offences of course. The other explanation is they have ballsed the whole thing up by delaying the investigation to begin with and are desperately buying time to get the operation on an even footing. Met police embroiled in a "not fit for purpose" shocker.

Whole situation is a corrupt fit up. Yesterday the Met had no issue with the report being released, today they do. Obviously there's stuff in the report that would see the lot of them gone. Including Cressida Dick.
