Dirty Old Town was one of the first folk songs that I learned after watching Isla Saint-Clair singing it on kids TV in the 70's, it was first sung in Salford during the Industrial Revolution rather than Dublin but he sang it well.

A lot of the stuff that wasn't a collaboration with the Dubliners was based on British folk music.
