Righty so..

It’s just so awful the whole situation, those poor babies never had a chance.

She is one of 4 women I think to serve life In the UK

Letby becomes fourth woman in UK to ever get whole life order
As a reminder, a whole life order means someone's crime "was so serious that they will never be released from prison".

Just three other women have been given such sentences in the UK - Myra Hindley (who died in 2002), Rosemary West, and Joanna Dennehy.

I’m surprised Beverly Allitt isn’t on the lifers list!

Read CJ's post, that goes some way towards explaining the situation

There is also a fundamental belief that nurses are 'good' people, which of course isn't always true, at the end of the day it is a paying job with good prospects and reliable employment and as such will attract some people who are actually entirely unsuitable, the selection process weeds most unsuitable applicants out way before they reach the wards, but it isn't an infallible system

As in all jobs, but nursing is surly held to a higher standard.
With all my medical issues I am ever so grateful to the NHS.0
I meet people from all over the world who take care us all.
I always feel comfortable, knowing I’m in safe hands.
I’m therefore very disturbed by this case.
Like Shipman, it’s truly worrying.

They changed the law for the confirmation of death after Shipman, you needed two doctors' sigs on the form before you got the green slip for cremation but it was abandoned during Covid. From what I've been hearing today it seems that whistleblowers are treated harshly in the NHS if they grass up one of the gang.
