I ask because the amount of firepower, of various types, on our modern destroyers is terrifying.

Usual training, yes. Mostly I wored with rather larger stuff, the sort with guidance. And got to go to bed afterwards in a bed with ironed sheets, not a soggy sleeping bag in a bog.
