1C this morning, very frosty and saying snow later today. Hope the snow stays off, I've got a fair bit of driving to do today.

3C here feels like minus 3 out there.
We're having frequent hail showers and the last two have stayed frozen on the ground.

Sleet, fucking sleet in Somerset.

Temps have dipped and I think that I may wear a wooly pully along with the traditional shorts in the morning, you can't be too careful :ooer:

I have had frozen windscreens in the morning and at 6pm :yikes:
Yet it was typically tropical over the Christmas/New year period.

I had some lights come up on the dashboard a couple of months ago caused by coking up the plugs before letting the engine warm up. Waiting for everything to work properly before you drive off is a good thing.

What are you people like?

Potential engine damage
Modern vehicles run on a mix of vapourised fuel and air. By leaving your car engine running while stationary in colder weather, the ratios of this mix changes significantly; with less gasoline likely to be evaporated during the colder weather, the risk is that your vehicle adds more to the mixture, thereby causing an imbalance and leading to a process known as ‘running rich’.

Alternatively, there is a risk that leaving your car idling on a cold morning can cause essential lubricating oil to be stripped from cylinder walls and the pistons of the engine, leading to potential damage that could costs hundreds to repair. The risks of leaving your car engine running before heading off, clearly, outweigh the benefits.

If you're driving something from before 1985 then warm the engine and the carb up for 30 seconds.
