we have rain, lots and lots of rain. better than snow or ice so i'll take it. Bloody cold though.

they work on pressure (I think), so even if they are on they aren't on until someone sits in them

I love the heated steering wheel, I thought it would be sweaty and sticky but it isn't, it is lush

it's damp here, feels like it's been drizzing for months, not even decent rain just annoying drizzle

I had some lights come up on the dashboard a couple of months ago caused by coking up the plugs before letting the engine warm up. Waiting for everything to work properly before you drive off is a good thing.

What are you people like?

Potential engine damage
Modern vehicles run on a mix of vapourised fuel and air. By leaving your car engine running while stationary in colder weather, the ratios of this mix changes significantly; with less gasoline likely to be evaporated during the colder weather, the risk is that your vehicle adds more to the mixture, thereby causing an imbalance and leading to a process known as ‘running rich’.

Alternatively, there is a risk that leaving your car idling on a cold morning can cause essential lubricating oil to be stripped from cylinder walls and the pistons of the engine, leading to potential damage that could costs hundreds to repair. The risks of leaving your car engine running before heading off, clearly, outweigh the benefits.

If you're driving something from before 1985 then warm the engine and the carb up for 30 seconds.

I wait for the rev counter to drop below 1K, I was starting to get a misfire and so I looked into it and (touch wood) it's kept the EML light off and no more misfire.

It only takes a couple of minutes, time enough to clear any ice and let the de-misters do their work or if it's all clear then you can have a mini early morning work related existential crisis before shifting into first :smilin:

I've been out, very very slushy on the main roads, not a gritter to be seen. Lots of spinners on the roundabouts :ooer:

Dear drivers, remove the snow from your bloody cars :grrrrr:

I've had the pleasure of sleet and snow all day in North Taunton, the driving wind was a bonus... :woteva:

Won't be too long and I will envy you for your weather, feels like summer never lasts as long as winter, it's over in the blink of an eye :bawlin:
