I love them, especially baked with coleslaw.
If I could I'd eat nothing but roasted spuds morning noon and night.
When I visit a carvery I cover the plate in them then put a couple on top.

Roast potatoes or baked potatoes must be done in a real oven, not a microwave.
I've tried microwave roast tatties, tastes and looks like wet concrete.
Microwaves are for heating up soup or milk.

You are all of course correct - it's for convenience really. I think will use the oven in future.

that's my favourite and I always do them the same as you. Wash and prick them with fork and microwave (4) for about 12 mins. Then I stick them on kebab skewers and put in hot oven for about half an hour and they are lovely and crispy and also well cooked on inside.
I have started spiralizing every veg I can get my hands on and red onions Spiralize nicely and a big dollop of those on grated cheese on a spud looks great.
I also love sweet potatoes as someone else mentioned. I chop those up with loads of stuff like peppers, tomatoes, courgettes, aubergine, onions and season and roast. Yum!
