That may be your stance. But there are 50 million people that are given free medical care in this country.

The rest pay for their own in one manner or another.

And, by the way. Force is used for you to give a fuck. That's not exactly something to brag about. Paying taxes, when you consider the alternative, is not really an act of altruism. Voting for people that force people to pay taxes isn't either.

When you give, with no threat of duress if you don't, you can pat yourself on the back.

Why would a real libertarian ask that question?

Because I was addressing the system that is in place. Not the system I would prefer.

I live in the real world where governments confiscate money under the threat of force and imprisonment. Since they are going to keep doing that, there is no reason I shouldn't support ideas to make sure that money is spent wisely.

Do you have any more questions about the topic, with the topic not being me?

What system would you prefer? The one where people starve to death?

Anyway.

The NHS in the UK generally pays for the vast majority of medical care at source, but for instance some people may have to pay for prescriptions, dental care and glasses, plus some non essential treatments, such as plastic surgery, but the rules are complex and vary between different parts of the UK, i.e. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and different NHS trusts.

For example, prescriptions are free to anyone in Scotland, but not in England. In England you have to pass certain criteria, e.g. be on ESA, JSA, be disabled, a pensioner etc.

The GDP (nominal) for the USA is far higher than for the UK, as for one thing thing they have roughly 5 times the population of the UK and average earnings in the USA are higher than in the UK, so it's not as simple as that.
