Nuts.
Polish sausages for snacks (like pepperami) and pork scratchings ... I've discovered the tastiest and the least likely to break your teeth are the cheapest ones in multi packs home bargains.
Veg ... raw cooked fried boiled steamed whatever.
Having say some pork or fish I'll have it with steamed veg dripping in butter or covered in grilled cheese.
Baby bells for snacks.

am liking the sound of this

Anyone wanting to low carb has to become a label reader.
Sugar and carb is what you're looking to avoid on those labels so when you see Crunchy Nut Cornflakes are ninety percent carb .... put it back on the shelf.

I have a thing called a spiralizer in the kitchen ... twenty twenty five quid.
I put courgettes on it and spiralize them and that replaces the noodles I miss.
But I now prefer the courgette noodles.
Tons of low carb recipes online.

Porridge is bad news for most diabetics regarding the carb level ... if you're not diabetic it won't harm you but it isn't low carb.
Thing is it is a super healthy food and I love it so ... a large tablespoon of coconut oil goes in mine and I can get away with it not spiking my blood .... not all diabetics can apparently.
Blood spikes are what make you fat by the way.
Nothing to do with diabetes just you normal folk.
If you spike your sugar level the insulin you produce grabs the sugars and stores it as fat.
Insulin is the fat storing hormone.

If you're low carbing the answer has to be a big fat no.
Unless you do as I do which is put a big fat tablespoon of coconut oil in it.
Low carbing is all about the conversion of the food into glucose.
If you're doing it for health weight purposes you're approaching it in the same way a diabetic would.
The more high carb food you eat the more you produce insulin.
The insulin has to grab that overload of carb created sugar and get it out of your bloodstream.
It does this by converting the glucose into fat and storing it.
It does very fast too.
The problem then is your brain notices there is now a shortage of glucose in your bloodstream so sends out hunger messages and you want to eat again.
Most people will then eat more carbs and a vicious circle has been created and more and more fat is being stored.
Carbs make you hungry.
If I eat two Weetabix for breakfast at seven in the morning I'm feeling like a snack before ten because carbs ultimately make you hungry.
If I have a bullet proof coffee for breakfast and nothing else I can go all day without even thinking about food.
I don't need any snacks.
I haven't had any carbs that have me craving more carbs.
Fat gives the brain a message of fulness so the eating need is switched off and the body goes into fat burning mode.

I try my best to eat a healthy, varied diet throughout the week, which includes all of the food groups. However, if I want a slice of cake once a week then I do so with no guilt. I enjoy good food, well cooked and limit my portions. But, to me, eating food is pleasurable aswell as functional.

All in moderation is the secret. Doesn't take a genius to know that if you overeat you will become fat.

Not that simple for some Mes.
I've never over eaten and never been over weight until I had to start taking medication that came with a warning ... might turn you into a fat bastard .... jumped four stone in a matter od weeks and was actually eating less because I wasn't very well.
Lifes a bitch.

Yes, I meant in general though.
Those steroids are a bitch. Pal of mine went massive! Now off them and she fell to a size 6 ! I won't take them at all, plus they mess about with the muscles if on them long term.

If you do low carb can you have the occasional bag of chips or special fried rice?

Also, what fruit is OK to eat?
