Boiled potatoes are still starchy carbohydrates. When reducing carbs I like to have sweet potato with my steak because they're tasty and they are healthier. Due to Brexit it's now harder to get sweet potatoes.

My husband like to have a salad with his steak and salads are harder to get due to Brexit.

We're lucky because there's an organic market garden near to us and we can get fresh veg at a premium price, I'm not sure how people on lower incomes and benefits will cope especially when furlough and the £20 boost go in a few weeks time.

Potatoes are not high in calories though, unless you fry them or put a ton of sauce or cheese on them. If it's a choice between chips and boiled potatoes, boiled are healthier. Nobody is forced to have chips just because they can't get salad.

I don't know why people knock potatoes just because they're "starchy".

By good energy source you mean full of carbohydrates which was the point I was making.

People with diabetes should avoid potatoes when possible and although by husband isn't diabetic yet his medical did so prediabetic indicators. If we're force to live on potatoes and white rice just to fulfil our calorific requirements his health will suffer long term.

No, the lack of self-sufficiency caused a potential market to collapse because they only have enough produce for themselves and the common market that they belong to, it would be ironic if GB had a potato famine. I'm sure that we can ship some in from Singapore or something.

Sounds like you were getting potatoes before these floods.

Maybe it's time to annex Ireland again?

Not noticed any shortages in these parts till today.
ALDI looks fine.
BnM well short with single cans of soup strung along a lot of shelf space.
It's a fairly large BnM but has always had a very minimal alcohol corner.
Today there's a whole isle of booze and a good selection of reds but no spirits. They never sold spirits. Lots of beers and lagers.
Me and missus couldn't remember what the isle full of booze used to be because we don't go in there often enough.
Morrisons looks like it could be closed by weekend!
Three different places with no diesel.
Around here that is really serious.

Any bets on martial law before Xmas?
I'm being serious because the hundred thousand truck driver shortage cannot be fixed In a few weeks or even months.
Maddog can you send us a hundred thousand truck drivers promptly?
