They can't be HGV drivers straight away and the problem is immediate.

What's you plan C.

Always ready to look to anywhere for potential solutions to problems.

His plan A sucked, it was the sort of plan you would expect from a retarded haddock with a concussion, and his plan B somehow sucked even more, like that haddock had been given a lobotomy but, who knows maybe his plan C will have some merit.

You have a very simplistic view - folk can't just hop into these things and start delivering up and down the country!

It has been explained to him many times.

In the UK we can't afford to let untrained drivers take control, not always successfully, of HGVs and drive them through our town centres.

Whilst in charge of a HGV something as trivial as knowing how to adjust your mirrors can cause a tragedy

Obviously that should read not knowing how to adjust your mirrors.

it's a known fact that prior to Brexit, supermarket shelves were always fully stocked, and that there were never ever any gaps. Freezers never broke down, deliveries were always on time, and once an item was sold, it was magically replenished.

Nah, it takes a few weeks.

Government shouldn't be making it more difficult.

And people are comfy in their current employment, what now?

Are there not 21 year olds with shitty jobs in the UK?

Stoo, this isn't rocket science. Driving a truck isn't a bad gig. People will do it when the other options suck.

Has to be a shit load of people working at McDonald's that would love to double their income.

They got new jobs during the plague that aren't utter dogshit and pay better.

Now what?

Driving a truck is worse than flipping burgers?

Why don't YOU get a better fucking job?

I'm pretty sure that Boris wouldn't be making plans to send in the army if there wasn't a problem.

Unfortunately, while I'm sure the 2,000 army drivers will do a great job that will still leave a shortfall of 98,000 to fill and in the meantime the Army will have no drivers which could be an issue.

For someone who doesn't identify as an authoritarian he spends a hell of a lot of time trying to tell other people what to do.

Training to be a HGV driver (practical) takes only 5 days.
The entire process takes between 8 to 10 weeks.
Just looked at another site and it claimed to take 6 to 8 weeks to complete traing :dunno:
So roughly every 2 months you could have hundreds or thousands of HGV drivers ready to deliver goods all over the UK.
Why not make it a part of receiving benefits. That you learn to do a task that helps in time of crisis?
What harm could it do to make everyone on SS learn first aid or CPR etc.
