UK forced to reopen sensitive Ukraine trade pact

The UK has been forced to reopen its trade deal with Ukraine, one of its most sensitive post-Brexit agreements, after errors were found in the original text, The Independent can reveal.

The pact was signed by prime minister Boris Johnson in October last year, and lauded as a key example of Britain’s post-Brexit trade and foreign policies. The agreement not only covers the commercial relationship between Britain and the eastern European country but also defence cooperation to support Kiev’s sovereignty

It's a bit of a long read but to summarise Boris signed an agreement in which the UK has promised to continue to follow all of the EUs rules in perpetuity.

Yes, Boris has said in at least one binding treaty that despite Brexit and all it's misery the UK will never actually deviate one iota from rules set by the EU in which it genuinely now has no say.

Because that's what 'sovereignty' looks like apparently.

Maybe y'all can pay Hunter Biden to help.

He needs cash for the stripper he had a kid with, and his current wife.

I don't think he has a job at the moment.

Boring GOPher shit.

This thread is about a British deal that has nothing to do with any US politician

Not Biden not his pathetic predecessor, not that bearded idiot from your state - no Americans are involved.

I'll take that as a yes. Hunter Biden made 7 figures sitting on the board of a Ukrainian oil company. He knows the country well, I'm sure the UK wouldn't mind some Ukrainian oil. Daddy Joe has already said no one in his family will work for a foreign company, but I'm sure an exception can be made since Hunter would be working for you.

Again, I have no idea what he's doing now, but he bought a multi million dollar home for his new wife. He has the baby and support payments with the stripper, and we really don't know if he still has a drug habit. That shit ain't cheap.

So using his expertise in the Ukraine is a win for every one. And if he's over there, it decreases the chance he fucks his dead brothers wife again. No doubt the Ukrainians will keep him well stocked with whores.

I don't see why the Americans are trying to shoe-horn in their politics.

What has happened? Presumably in the rush to get the successor agreements through on time the civil servants had to cut and paste from the versions we had as EU members. There were huge numbers of staff seconded from other departments to quite literally do a global find and replace in MS Word substituting UK for EU. These paragraphs were obviously missed.

From the UK's point of view this is a big problem because we're bound by these agreements under international law and if the one with Ukraine, one that was subject to extra scrutiny, went through in this form how many others have?

We already know this government didn't read it's own Trade and Cooperation Agreement with the EU, we know it didn't read the NI Protocol and now it looks like they don't read trade agreements in general and have effectively cancelled any possible benefit of Brexit whilst retaining all the disadvantages

They're completely useless

Ain't that the truth
I've always admired the Swiss. That was the US prior to Woodrow Wilson.

We played with our guns, milked some cows and skipped merrily along minding our own business..

I can't know for sure but as a trade deal normally takes years and dozens were being published each month it's fair to assume that's the case.

In any event the UK is now treaty bound to continue to put EU law before British Law.
