A six-year-old girl was killed and five adults were seriously injured in a mass shooting in Washington D.C. late Friday night, according to police.

Executive Asst. Chief Ashan Benedict said in a video posted to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Twitter account that shots were fired around 11 p.m. in the area where Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Malcolm X Avenue intersect in the city’s southeast.

“(Police) didn’t receive a call, they actually heard the shots fired and responded,” he said. “They found several gunshot victims.”

The six-year-old girl was pronounced dead in hospital, Benedict said.

The thoughts and prayers last time didn't work.

There seemed to be a time where the criminal element took some care to avoid children in their stupid wars over fuck knows what.

Of course, they also had enough sense not to bring their kids to work..

A bit more from a different source...........

A Southeast D.C. community protested the renewal of a liquor store’s license, Mart Liquor, on the same corner earlier this year.

Dozens of people gathered outside the liquor store the evening of May 19 in protest. However, it’s more than the liquor license they were concerned about; it’s the trash, crime, and loitering community members said are associated with all of the liquor stores in the corridor.

“This is a community that is saturated with liquor stores and looking at the DC Health Equity Report published by Mayor Bowser it says that areas that are suffering from low economic development are at high risk of violence when they also are coupled with saturated, high alcohol density institutions,” Salim Adofo, Chairperson for Advisory Neighborhood Commission 8C said. “And so what we see is there are about seven liquor stores in this corridor and we looked at the MPD crime data and within 2,000 feet of this liquor store, there has been one murder every 90 days.”

Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) crime data showed there had been 25 homicides in the three-quarter-mile radius surrounding Mart Liquor over the last two

Did you see the video on the news from NYC about the guy who shot another guy (both black) shooting over two children to get his intended victim?
Watching the video, it seemed to me that the guy trying to get away from the gunman ran at the kids with his arms open trying to throw the kids between himself and the shooter. At one point when he was on the ground it looked like he was trying to get underneath one of the kids for protection
NYC has gone crazy with gun violence with more shootings last weekend than Chiraq. And this a gun free state :dunno:

No, but nothing surprises me.

I bet the victims in this case know the shooter, but won't tell the cops even though a little girl is dead.

There will likely be a shooting in retaliation for this one in a few days.

But not enough sense to keep them away from guns. I mean where else but the land of the free hands a fucking Uzi submachine gun to a 9 year old kid? NINE friggin' years old FFS! What could possibly go wrong?

Well she blew a few holes in the guys head who was dumb enough to persuade her to use one on a shooting range. Oh, and the name of the tour company which arranged such mind blowing insanity? "Bullets and Burgers".

Thats the trouble with you lot, you glamourise the whole gun thing not satisfied until you've got pre-teens running around with fuckin' submachine guns instead of playing with dolls or kicking a football. :shoot:

The range instructor screwed up. I've seen the video.

No pre teens are running around with Uzi's.

They can fire them in a controlled environment at some ranges.

Most 9 year olds aren't strong enough to handle the muzzle creep from this weapon, but some are.

All of my girls were shooting at that age, but not fully automatic weapons. I can't own one, and wouldn't spend the money on one if I could.

Knabenschiessen isn't really a big problem for children.

Hanging out with your parents at the liquor store parking lot at almost midnight, appears to be...

Other problems include relying on thoughts and prayers to solve the problem of gun violence.

You're comparing chalk 'n cheese as Swiss have an entirely different mindset or psyche to Americans. They don't play "dress up" trying to emulate some gung-ho Hollywood gun slinger. Knabenschiessen is confined to one canton, Zurich, and only teenagers compete. Switzerland has had just four mass shootings, a figure USA achieves in a matter of weeks every year!

A better country comparison for you would be your next door neighbour, Canada, and ask yourselves the question why so few mass shootings or homicides by gun? Interestingly the country with the highest civilian gun ownership after USA is Falklands Islands. Probably still fearing an invasion but meantime they aren't using their next door neighbour for target practice. :smilin:

You brought up an event where a young girl, with her parents approval, was allowed to fire a weapon at a range, with an instructor by her side.

That is what I'm addressing. I'm saying it's a stupid comparison to what happened to the little girl in this story.
