Noooo! they would never do that. :thud:

I do tend to overthink things but I still have Moggs words echoing around my mind when he commented on death camps claiming they were merely feeding camps. I think were going back there at some point in the near future.. Brexit alone was and is a frightening prospect add on coronavirus and toxic tories, businesses closing, mass unemployment , DWP sanctions (active again since yesterday) enforced and cruel zero physical contact for children in schools and 3 million people from Hong Kong .. We already have serious poverty issues in the UK when we shouldn't. Mogg again "foodbanks are rather uplifting" The ignorance of the tories knows no bounds. I also still remember Philip Hammonds words "Poverty ? I dont see it"

fucked every way we turn now. :off head:

Once again the whole article is bullshit.
But you have to read it all and get through all of the crap to get to this:

This will apply on the transport of endangered species

The whole statement said

In the 11-page report, HMRC said that in order to achieve customs control “we need to ensure that all goods are presented and declared to customs”.

Trade from Northern Ireland towards the UK will largely remain check-free while some products coming from the mainland into the region will be subject to “procedures relating to specific international obligations” which bind the UK and EU. This will apply on the transport of endangered species and where traders want to use special procedures, like suspending payment on duties.

Goods going from Britain to Northern Ireland will be treated as exports, but they will remain inside the UK market - an amendment in the Withdrawal Agreement aimed at avoiding a hard border on the island of Ireland.

Under the arrangements, suppliers must submit an import declaration form setting out the customs code for all the goods being transported to Northern Irish ports.

The second document is a safety and security declaration, which is currently waived for all goods sold inside the single market.

Companies will then be obliged to provide their hauliers with a transit accompanying document (TAD) which must remain with the vehicle at all times so the EU can verify the load that departs Britain is the same one that arrives at European trading hubs.

Transport companies will need to fill out the forms regardless of whether a Brexit deal is clenched between the UK and the EU by December 31.

It was recently revealed that lorry companies will also need the permission of the tax department before crossing into Europe after Brexit.

So there is indeed likely to effectively be a customs barrier midway across the Irish Sea, requiring 3 forms (Import Declaration, Safety and Security Documentation and Transit Accompanying Document) for ALL goods being sent from the mainland to NI. This will mean a large burden for exporters to NI, and of course a large workforce required to check the documentation.

Dung-Hole's approach seems to be ignore all the information and deny any reality.

The EU were adamant that Northern Ireland would not be a 'back door' through which goods and services could flow from the UK to the EU. They're not particularly bothered about it going the other way.

So a cargo of chickens, cattle, racehorses from breeding (I've picked on some that are worth a lot to the UK economy) going from Dundalk to anywhere in the UK can do so without checks, tariffs etc). If however a ship going the other way must pay a 17% tariff.

However these chickens, cattle and racehorses need not have come from Dundalk orginally. They can come from anywhere not only in the EU but with whom the EU has a free trade agreement, as long as they make the stop in Dundalk - or another Irish border town - they're covered and can enter the UK market without any hinderance whatsoever.

This is the 'breakthrough' Boris negotiated with the EU.

Small wonder they took his hand off. Now all those German car manufacturers the Brexiters were waiting for know they only have to send their cars through Ireland and there's nothing Boris can do about it.

What a complete fool he is.

I highlighted the "Goods going from Britain to Northern Ireland will be treated as exports" deliberately so he wouldn't confuse them with goods going the other way.

He did.

And he accuses me of not reading what I post...

He's beyond parody.

British government demands compromise - from the EU, obviously. Not us.

The latest negotiations in Brussels on an EU-UK trade and security deal have broken up early, with the EU’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, complaining of a lack of respect and engagement by the British government.

The two sides ended the week’s talks – the first held in person since February – a day ahead of the jointly agreed schedule amid evident frustration at the lack of progress in bridging what both Barnier and his UK counterpart, David Frost, described as “serious” disagreements.

“Our goal was to get negotiations successfully and quickly on a trajectory to reach an agreement,” Barnier said in a statement. “However, after four days of discussions, serious divergences remain.”

Our people seem to think this is some grisly kind of poker, the EU are bluffing and only have a king high to our full house.

It's nonsense. The EU now hold all the cards having spent the last 4 years diligently working on deals to cover any lost trade from Brexit. They simply won't miss us.

Brexit was built on soft sand.

This is one of those times when Canny has got no defence so he's trying to get the thread locked or wiped so he doesn't have to answer to it.

The EU negotiators simply couldn't believe their luck when they got the UK to sign up to a one way valve between the six counties and the EU. It took a deal Theresa May had made that wasn't great for the UK and, at the UK's own suggestion, made it something the EU would never have dared to ask for. And showed that Boris doesn't understand the WTO rules that he advocates.

A deal in which the UK did not enforce any quota or tariff on goods produced in the EU that was not reciprocated was bad enough, but the deal Boris made was so much worse.

If the UK had waived tariffs on EU goods coming into Northern Ireland under WTO rules it could have done so on condition that it waive tariffs for goods from every other nation with Most Favoured Nation status.

It all gets a bit complicated but if the UK had allowed free access across that border to only goods produced in the EU it would have been illegal under WTO rules so instead the UK and the EU have agree that anything coming into Ireland from anywhere in the world has free movement between the EU and the six counties and then free movement from the six counties into the UK, anything going the other way is subject to WTO rules unless and until the EU and UK agree a trade deal.

My guess is the EU are in absolutely no hurry to agree a trade deal.

Roll on December 31 when all trade between the UK and EU is subject to WTO rules and all trade between the rest of the world and the UK only has to stop off in an Irish port first in order to be tariff free. It doesn't even need to be unloaded.

Errm, think you meant Bungle... :smilin:

Meanwhile, I am hearing that there is another Tory cock-up (no sexualisation intended) about to break.

It's about their wonderful blue passports, which are being reported as having a technical problem which prevents them from using the quick scanners, so owners have to turn round and go to the back of the manual checking queue.

I really hope this isn't true, this poor government has suffered enough abuse already - and some of it might have been slightly unjustified.
