24+ Advanced Learning Loans - How will they affect skills?

If you are aged 24 or over you or your employer can now apply for 24+ advanced learning loans to fund the cost of a level three qualification - roughly equivalent to an A level.

This represents the latest attempt, and there have been many by governments of all colours and persuasions, to get British industry the pick up the tab for training the next generation of British engineers, tradesmen and craftsmen - something we stopped doing under Mrs Thatcher.

Are Advanced Learning loans - which replaced government funded training at the start of this month - the way forward or will this be yet another nail in the coffin of British industry and commerce?
