NZ is unsafe - father of tourist killed

Postby ANZAC » Thu May 10, 2012 12:21 am

The father of a British tourist killed when a skydiving plane crashed at Fox Glacier has appeared on a BBC breakfast show claiming New Zealand is unsafe.

Chris Coker, whose 24-year old son Bradley died along with eight others in the accident in September 2010, has also written to John Key asking for a review of aviation regulations.

The letter follows a report out yesterday which found that failures by the operator, engineers and the Civil Aviation Authority contributed to the crash.

Mr Coker wants people in the UK to know the law in New Zealand is quite different from the law in Europe.

"There is this inability to sue for negligence or wrongful death."

Mr Coker is unimpressed with John Key's assertion that the majority of this country's adventure tourism industry is safe.

He has asked the Prime Minister for a review of aviation regulations.

"I've got a basic feeling that so far we're banging our heads on the wall, that the Government really aren't listening, they're just making a political response," Mr Coker says.
Chris Coker has also launched a YouTube video and Facebook campaign critical of New Zealand's safety standards.Sorry for your sons death Chris but adventure tourism has risk to it the plane in question was wrongly loaded The Facebook page says “New Zealand is a dangerous tourist destination – over 2400 tourists killed in the last 12 years” in adventure tourism ins a blatant lie .get your fact right!!!!!!

In a statement to the BBC, Prime Minister John Key said approximately 50 people had been killed in the adventure tourism sector in the last 8 years.

When holidaying in New Zealand you are always in danger of some bastard falling on top of you. The crazy fuckers jump off anything, roll down hills inside balloons, get fired out of a bungy catapult and all sorts.
