Complaints that the Met (and US PDs) are institutionally (systemically) racist are taken as gospel on AVF.

So why is Rich so quick to dismiss legitimate complaints about institutional antisemitism at the BBC as "laughable"

It's those double standards back again

You rarely engage in politics threads so can't comment on the moderation despite just commenting on the rabid right wingers whilst white knighting for AVF and asking what is it you've said that is nonsensical

:shell:

The anti vaxx stuff was irrelevant because I only cited it as an example of an AVF rule they're free to implement if they want, so it doesn't need more discussion or white knighting on your part

You were the one who mentioned anti-vaxxers so don't bring it up if it's irrelevant. If you think anything I've said is nonsensical then tell me what it is and I'll try to explain.

IamtheWalrus wrote:I noticed you avoided saying anything about the blatant anti semitism and the failure of the mods, admins and site owner to deal with it. Funny that

Who here is a rabid right winger!

I noticed you avoided saying anything about the blatant anti semitism and the failure of the mods, admins and site owner to deal with it. Funny that

How do you know Lastofus did nothing wrong? Problematic posts often get deleted so you may have missed them saying something that resulted in or contributed to their ban.

if Stuart wants to ban anti-vaxxers and people that say anything moderately pro-Russia he's entitled to. The issue is the gas-lighting that AVF is open and welcoming to both sides of the political spectrum, when that clearly isn't the case and there are numerous examples that demonstrate that isn't the case.

Not least of all the rampant antisemitism along with the mods coming down like a ton of bricks on anyone that expresses a moderately pro-Israel, anti Hamas stance - including: KingsGambit, Muji and NoMoreOilyRags. The crime of Oilyrags was asking "aren't moderators supposed to be neutral" in response to one of the biggest antisemites of the lot - who funnily enough is no longer a moderator and hasn't posted since February.

But sure, it's just rightwingers crying

I've just said that I rarely engage in politics threads so I can't comment on how they're moderated but I'm hardly going to be convinced by the interpretation of events from a rabid right-winger. I've engaged with anti-vaxxers and have no sympathy if they get banned for spreading misinformation and failing to support their claims. Members who repeat claims but never support them are often the ones who end up getting banned so perhaps that's one of the reasons rather than them merely expressing contentious opinions. Nobody on here knows for certain the reasons for bans but you're free to make your heavily biased assumptions. It's against the rules to comment on moderation issues and I've previously been warned for doing that.

I notice you've avoided responding to what I said about Trump so I assume you agree that's contentious. Smart people can say dumb things and dumb people can say smart things so without some context, there's not much that can be said about calling Elon Musk smart or dumb.

Reminds me of the time I tried to converse with Rich to see if there was any personality behind the man, the myth and the legend.

Me: "hey Rich, see the footy last night?"

Rich: "14 fudging years! 14 years of Tories moan moan moan"

Or here's one from Inkinoo as I recall it...

Me: "I had a nice salad for my tea last night, it was too warm for a cooked meal".

Inkinoo: "Evidence! Where's your evidence of the salad!"

Me: "I was just saying I had a sal..."

Irongiant (answering the IG hotline) "please provide evidence to back up your claims, otherwise you risk a forum ban for salad lies. Thanks"

Moriarty holmes: Israelis are the worst child killers on the planet!

Stinkinoo: everyone knows the govt slowed asylum applications down deliberately so everyone would hate asylum seekers and be distracted from their corruption! Not everyone fell for it.

Ig: These posts require no mod intervention whatsoever.

Nordic: <anything>

Ig: Yeah were gonna need evidence of that claim mmmmkay.

---

Irl normal: Good morning rich!

Rich: Well, it would be if it wasn't for the tories! 14 years! Tories!! Tooorrrieesssss!!! :grrrrr:

Irl normal: ... Please don't interact with me. NO rich, the fact that I am wearing blue doesn't mean I'm a tory lover? Please stop assaulting my person and damaging my property because of your utterly deranged hatred come obsession with the Conservative party and anyone that votes for them... you fucking weird freak.

The problem is AV is banning people having a different opinion, Lastofus didn't do anything wrong, say anything wrong and he can't post. What the flipping heck? Those lefties say how much the value democracy but tell me why he was banned for having a DIFFERENT opinion. Maybe all you want is control?

If anyone posts contentious opinions then the "pile-on" is inevitable. That's not specific to AVF as it happens in discourse all over the internet and in real life. I don't recall anyone saying the NHS is perfect as just about everyone says it has flaws and that doesn't result in a pile-on.

This is incorrect because sites like /r/ukpolitics have 481k members and are able to keep the discussions open to both sides. Likewise, pile-ons shouldn't happen on sites like AVF that constantly proclaim to be open to both sides, which is nothing more than blatant gas-lighting.

Similarly, none of those things are "contentious". They're only contentious in the eyes of a left-wing echo chamber.

Something being contentious means it's likely to cause disagreement or argument and those claims certainly meet that criteria. If I were to say that Trump is an utter moron and the worst POTUS in history then you would no doubt consider that to be contentious.
