A nightmare on his way to the airport, his travel moneycard didn't work apparently because he used it more than twice at an atm and blocked for 24 hour, although pleny of money in the account. Anyway he was stuck at a station trying to get to airport , no money and last train already gone, police came to help him out and drove him to a taxi with a card reader which should have worked. Arrived at airport and card failed again, no one spoke english, police and airport staff there etc Airport staff said he would probably miss his flight :bawlin: Luckily we have a friend here who is japanese and managed to translate took ages to sort out paying the taxi as they have very different system there. He's home now and a roast dinner and now out with his mates :wubbers: Dread to think what my phone bill is , but anyway he had a good time apart from that last night. "worst night of his life" .A bit of a learning experience for him .I hurt my knee in the panic trying to get translator japanese womans house and could hardly walk yesterday but much better today. What a nightmare it was, and now he's thinking about his next trip :ooer: Well hes back to work soon and college course. :thud:

Anyway he got a ride in a japanese police car, his mates wished him a good journey home and were a bit aghast when he said he was in a police car. All in all turned out O.K but I think he might be a traumatised as he thought he might be arrested or whatever else you might think traveling alone in a foreign country with no access to money :ooer:

But we wont be using Caxtons travel card again.

what the fuck has this got to do with the thread?

Just chatting :cuppaT:

There certainly was, anyway on a good note life has got better, working again and sociasing a bit too much

I had to take my lad out of school at the time to add to the nightmare but after spending the summer in America with friends he's travelling solo in japan. at just 18 .

Proud, but hopefully not boasting, but I am very proud .

If you can’t big up your own kids, what’s the point? Fair play to him, you should be proud...

He's broken "a paper curtain thing" in a hostel in error in Kyoto :ooer: but now back Tokyo, He's been riding a " rusty old bike" around Kyoto but it was "too quiet and a bit boring". Osaka has been his favourite place , a bit "more gritty" and the folks are friendly and not so reserved plus he made a few of friends there. Hes off to https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3800.html tomorrow on the train for the day.
Will be glad when he's home :wubbers:

There's no better education than traveling. I read that in a Catherine Cookson novel and it's always stayed with me.

I may be the Super Villain - but you are the Prodigal Son.

Interesting. :monkey:

Nah, I think this Guest has me confused with somebody else. I was never one for controversy or online spats, I prefer the quiet life...

Yeah - who have me convinced...

Has anybody heard from Dean at all? Does he post anywhere or did he just pack it all in and vanish? It seems strange that such a prolific poster would just disappear completely and never be heard of again.

As far as I know, nobody has heard from Dean.

He was here posting one day and then he just vanished.

Maybe he just got bored of forums or maybe something happened to him.

Look at TJ, he stopped posting suddenly last year and a few of us thought he'd died.

It was a bit of a shock, when he logged in that morning.

:ooer:

I thought Dean had a bit of a falling out here with admin and started posting then becoming admin on Burbles?
Didn't him, NAA, Dimples/ Ms Marples All leave around the same time?

Not quite how it happened. I was always falling out with Admin here, they were a bit harsh with the ban stick back then...

NAA and Burbles has nothing to do with this or any other forum. If I remember rightly NAA mentioned to me she wanted her own place and asked me if I was interested in helping out on the Admin side of things. It wasn’t down to leaving this or any other forum, just somewhere else to post, and play arcade games.

Miss Burbles, they were all so much support when I lost my Dad and Bro, really helped me through all that . :smilin:

Rellik was better than expected, Peaky Blinders starts again soon.

I have Black Lake recorded - I just love BBC4 for all the subtitled drama, the documentaries and the music.

Best channel on Freeview.

Even better Blue Planet II begins at 20.00 on BBC1 next Sunday. :cuppaT:
