Time to rethink
The present-day Labour Party is to the right of Attlee who was the last PM to do anything substantial for the masses - very far from extreme left-wing.
Marshall Aid was a vote winner, I agree. Well done the Yanks
Marshall Aid didn't start until 1948, the Atlee Government came in during 1945.
In the previous election, the Conservatives had come in on a platform of sorting out 'the mess' in Europe and keeping Britain out of Europe's affairs and Europe out of Britain's affairs. At the time it was considered an isolationist policy although it was later dubbed appeasement - handing Europe over to the growing power of Germany and relying on trading partnerships with the colonies that were becoming strained and the United States who were having problems of their own.
So there are absolutely no parallels whatsoever - none.
